Avicus Redtail (born Avicus Sithil Melonii-Bearclaw) is a character on WOLF-RPG.

Biography

Avicus was born into the Ursus cult in Bearclaw Valley in the spring of 2020, daughter of Merrick and Astara and alongside littermate brother Aventus. Their birth was a fraught occasion, as Merrick grew crazed upon seeing his children and only intervention from Evien and Fraser saved the two from potential demise.

The girl was precocious, curious and feral, drawn to all things physical and visceral. She quickly gained an aptitude for hunting and further sharpened her skills as a warrior as well. Aventus and Avicus were at odds with each other from their birth, but they also found camaraderie in bullying the other youths of the valley, including and especially Glaukos and (brother), whose mother was slain by Astara in a fit of rage.

An encounter with Ursus's ally, the Saints, at their border was a formative moment for Avicus, as the situation collapsed when Nyra seized a young Aventus and flung him to the ground, nearly killing him. Avicus left the valley shortly after to find the woman and take her revenge, but was grievously wounded by a bear in the mountains. She returned to Ursus and gained her strength, being tended by healer Ashlar, but her hatred against Aventus's rising stock in the ranks only grew.

Rebellion and Diaspora

One day, she challenged her brother's leadership position. Without support from her parents - her father especially telling her to stand down - Avicus left instead, traveling aimlessly across the range into the prairie. There, she was reunited with Glaukos, who was subsequently taken in by Kukutux. They planned a raid against the woman, but in the melee, Avicus lost a third of her tongue to Kukutux and found herself near death.

After having healed from that injury, Avicus was reunited with her family, who were planning [add more later]

Avicus witnessed, albeit from afar, the death of her mother at the paws of Nyra and Kynareth, and the incident burned itself forever in her heart, alongside Nyra's treatment of her brother moons past. She went to war alongside Ursus and other allies against the Saints, and when Nyra inexplicably escaped, she traveled north, eventually meeting back up with Ashlar and his family.

Redtail's Revival

Revenge was not easily quelled - not for Avicus, anyway. She traveled south again and claimed a sloping, mountainous territory known as Redtail Rise, lifting her voice to call warriors to her cause. They would take care of Nyra once and for all. Among the early faces in her cohort were her old friend Ashlar, the hunter Tulimaq, the burly Prophet, and the wordless Augur. These wolves would form the core of the budding pack.
